The Life and Times of Max, Yumi, Kaya and Mei

Finally updated!

Time flies! It's already November. We've been doing good. Max has been super busy working and Yumi is a full-time Mom now. Over the summer, Yumi took Kaya and Mei back to Japan for two months. Kaya went to preschool and even found the boy she likes there:)) We also went back to Pittsburgh and had a great time with Max's family. We also made some improvements to our house: we put a solar on the roof and the fence around the house, planted some plants... Kaya is now four and a half, started taking a violin lesson from last month! She enjoys a lesson but she hates a practice though...  Mei is 9 months old and just started crawling...oh, oh!

Kaya turned four!

We celebrated Kaya's 4th birthday with her favorite foods ... "cream" and "cheese"!

Yumi baked cupcakes and put whipped cream icing on the top. Kaya enjoyed it with her friends at home and also at her daycare. Max made a delicious "mac and cheese" for dinner. Kaya had a "mac and cheese" only twice in her life and it is her dream food. Look at Kaya's happy smile!

Kaya is an artist!

It's very fun to see Kaya's drawings recently! She could only draw some simple things such as a circle and so on before, but now she can draw flowers, animals, people, etc. They are very cute and creative. She can also write all of alphabets now but still learning Japanese characters. The other day, she wrote her name and her sister's name on a white board. It's pretty good, isn't it?

Mei's first month

Mei eats well and she is getting chubby. Her favorite things are ... taking a bath and looking at skylights! 

Grandpa Stanley visited us in the middle of February and we had a great time together. Mei wishes grandma Nancy was here, too. She's looking forward to seeing her in Pittsburgh this summer!

Mei is two weeks old!

It's been two weeks since Mei was born.

Mei was born!

Our second daughter, Mei, was born at 3:03pm on January 23rd!

She came out 10days earlier than the due day, but she already weighs 7lbs 3oz (3255 grams) and her height is 20 inches! Grandma Machiko arrived from Japan in time and the contraction started at that night. Yumi did a great job without epidural and the labor was rather fast. Both Yumi and Mei are doing well. Kaya is so excited to have a sister and helping mom change diapers and hold her sister.

"Mei" pronounced "May" and it means "sprout" in Japanese.

Congratulations, Max!

Max finally graduated from MIIS in May! OTSUKARESAMA! He is so happy not to be a student any more. In June, Kaya and Yumi went back to Japan for 6 weeks. Kaya attended Japanese preschool once a week and had lots of fun.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Kaya!

Can you believe that Kaya is three now? She now goes to a bathroom by herself, puts her clothes on by herself, talks and sings a lot and dances around! She is not a baby anymore...although she still loves pretending to be a baby. She enjoyed lots of cake and also got lots of gifts from her grandparents and her friends during her birthday week. Thank you all! She loves all of gifts, especially her first princess outfit and new dresses!

We moved in PG (in Monterey peninsula)!

We finally moved in a new and 100 year-old house! Max worked so hard in the past six months to make this cat-pee house a great green house! Baaba (grandma) Machiko also flew from Japan to help us with a perfect timing. She is staying with us for two months. We still need to get a lot of work done for this house, but this is a huge step!

Happy 2009!

Happy new year! Hope everyone had great holidays. We also had a wonderful break. Kaya actually got sick on Christmas Eve but her Santa brought her wonderful gifts and made her so happy. On that weekend, we visited the beautiful town in the south, SLO with our family friends. Kaya especially loved Madonna's Inn because everything(even sugar!) was pink there!
